Introducing Fun Fact Frank: A New Daily Dose of Joy, Curiosity, and Mental Wellness

Dear Friends and Readers,

At Healy’s Healing, I’ve always been committed to helping people on their journey toward emotional health, personal growth, and a more fulfilling life. As a Licensed Professional Counselor and life coach, I often work with individuals who feel weighed down by stress, anxiety, depression, or the everyday grind. And while I guide my clients through serious issues, I’ve also learned over the years that sometimes the best therapy is a good laugh, a fresh perspective, or simply a moment of delightful distraction.

That’s why I’m thrilled to announce a brand-new feature coming to the Healy’s Healing website and YouTube channel this September:

Fun Fact Frank – Daily Trivia with Heart, Humor, and Healing.

This daily video series offers something simple, enriching, and uplifting: trivia from today in history—fun facts, birthdays, oddball holidays, and surprising moments—presented with a mix of insight and humor. It’s part of a broader philosophy that healing doesn’t always require sitting still with your pain. Sometimes, the mind just needs to breathe.

Let me take a moment to share why this new project is more than just “fun and games”—and how it fits into the healing journey.

Why Trivia?

You might be asking, “Frank, why trivia?” After all, this newsletter is usually about things like emotional healing, therapy, spiritual growth, and mental wellness. What does trivia have to do with any of that?

The answer is: everything.

Trivia does more than entertain—it engages the brain, encourages curiosity, and often stirs joy or wonder. It can also be deeply comforting, especially in uncertain times. Here’s how:

1. Trivia is Mindful

Engaging in trivia forces you to pause and focus on something other than your current stressor. That moment of mental redirection can be a small but powerful form of mindfulness—one of the most accessible, everyday ways to calm an anxious brain.

2. Laughter Is Healing

Many of the stories I share on Fun Fact Frank will come with a humorous twist. And that’s intentional. Research consistently shows that laughter reduces cortisol (the stress hormone), boosts immune function, and increases endorphins. A trivia video that makes you laugh isn’t just entertaining—it’s medicinal.

3. Curiosity Rewires the Brain

When we become curious, we activate the brain’s reward circuitry. This is especially important for those dealing with depression or burnout. Trivia can spark that “aha!” moment or simply break the mental monotony.

4. It’s a Gentle Distraction

For many of my clients, especially those who are feeling overwhelmed, I sometimes recommend a news fast. In a world where every headline is a crisis, it can be soothing to take a break and focus instead on something benign, interesting, and even uplifting. Fun Fact Frank provides that outlet.

What You’ll Find on Fun Fact Frank

Each daily video—posted on my website and YouTube channel—will run around 2–4 minutes and include:

  • Famous Birthdays: From presidents to pop stars, athletes to authors—who was born today, and why do they matter?

  • This Day in History: Important, weird, or hilarious things that happened on this day. (Spoiler: July is full of surprises.)

  • Strange Holidays: Did you know there’s a “National Ice Cream Day,” or “Take Your Houseplant for a Walk Day”? We’ll cover those too!

  • Witty Commentary: A touch of humor, often drawn from my own personal experiences (yes, including my ability to remember every day of my life since age six!).

And don’t worry—it’s not just facts and dates. I’ll also weave in brief reflections, jokes, and emotional takeaways that tie these stories to life, relationships, and resilience.

The Healing Power of Joyful Curiosity

One of my favorite things to observe—both as a therapist and as a trivia buff—is how curiosity can reignite a person’s spark. When people are deeply depressed, their world often feels narrow, colorless, and predictable. But when they begin to recover, one of the first signs is the return of interest.

That might look like getting excited about a new book. Asking more questions in a session. Picking up a hobby again. Or even—yes—becoming curious about what happened on July 15th in 1945.

Curiosity is a sign of life. It’s the opposite of despair.

And so, Fun Fact Frank is more than just entertainment—it’s a daily dose of spark.

Why This Means So Much to Me

As many of you know, I have a rare memory condition called hyperthymesia—I remember every single day of my life since age six. That means that when I say “On this day in 1974…” I actually remember it.

While that might sound like a superpower (and sometimes it is), it also gives me a unique perspective. I’ve lived through thousands of birthdays, anniversaries, news stories, and “little” moments that make up the backdrop of our lives.

I bring that perspective to every Fun Fact Frank episode—not just sharing history, but living it with you, reflecting on it, and finding the emotional threads that connect us all.

Your Invitation: Start Your Day With Fun (and Frank)

I hope you’ll join me on this journey. Whether you’re already a client, a longtime newsletter reader, or someone who just loves good stories, Fun Fact Frank is for you.

Here’s how you can engage:

  • Visit the Healy’s Healing website each morning to watch the latest video.

  • Subscribe to the Fun Fact Frank YouTube channel so you don’t miss an episode.

  • Share it with friends—especially those who could use a smile or a break from stressful news.

  • Comment or email me with your own favorite trivia fact or birthday memory—I may feature it in a future video!

Trivia as a Tool for Transformation

In a world that often feels too fast, too frightening, or too fragmented, trivia may seem like a light thing. But light is what we need in the darkness.

Fun Fact Frank doesn’t just deliver information—it brings connection, joy, curiosity, and healing. It reminds us that there’s always something new to learn, always something funny to smile about, always another thread tying us to the wider human story.

So whether it’s the day Napoleon was crowned, or the day bubble wrap was invented—whether it’s a famous actor’s birthday or the anniversary of a peace treaty—every day holds a fact that might make you pause, wonder, laugh, or feel just a bit more grounded.

And maybe, just maybe, that’s exactly the kind of medicine we all need.

Wishing you curiosity, light, and healing,
